How it Works:
From the main menu select one of three options: “Read to me,” “Read it myself,” and “Auto play.” During the “Read to me” option professional narrators read the text using different voices for each character in the story. The classic Dr. Seuss illustrations are on each page, and music plays in the background. Touch any individual word and it is highlighted. Touch any of the pictures on the page and the voiceover says what it is, and it shows up in text on the screen as well. To turn the page, swipe the screen from right to left as though turning an actual page in a book.
The “Read it myself” option eliminates the narrators, but all the other extras are still available. The “Auto play” option is similar to the “Read it myself” option but the pages automatically turn.
What it Teaches/Develops:
This app promotes reading, listening and comprehending stories, as well as fosters a positive attitude toward books. It provides kids with a dynamic, interactive reading experience.
The Good:
This app maintains all of the classic illustrations found in the original version of Green Eggs and Ham, but enhances them with fun sound effects and learning extras. The options to have the story narrated or for kids to read it by themselves are great features.
Additional:
This is a true interactive book that even the smallest readers will enjoy. There is a whole collection of classic Dr. Seuss stories as interactive book apps available from this developer.
